Storytelling through Anime and Manga

For those who love anime, manga or are just interested in animation and storytelling, we are offering a 10-week class for autistic/neurodivergent girls.

Who: Girls in years 7-12*

When: Mondays starting 4 October, 4:00-5:30 Qld time; 4:30-6:00 SA time; 5:00-6:30 NSW/Vic/Tas

Where: Online (zoom)

Aim: Provide opportunities for pursuing passions, social connections, and self-determination

Participants will examine the process of storytelling through the process of creating sequential art, with a particular focus on techniques used in anime and manga. Participants will explore key areas of storytelling such as character design and creation, developing plot, and visual storytelling techniques. Students will develop skill to create their own stories, as well as to delve deeper into stories they already love. In this course, we focus on the creative process but more importantly will create an environment where autistic and neurodivergent girls can talk about the media they love.

How much: $500 for 10 weeks (For those participants that have NDIS, this is claimable from your plan)
